Teen Rape Victim Speaks Out: “Violence Is Always the Wrong Choice”

The 15-year-old Richmond High School student who was allegedly gang raped outside her school’s homecoming dance sent a written message last night to hundreds of people gathered in protest of the attack.

"We realize people are angry about this," the young victim said in a statement read by her church pastor. "But let the anger cause change, change that is necessary to keep our children, our neighbors and our friends safe."

Teacher Arrested for Having Sex with 13-Year-Old Student

Kristy Sanchez-Trujillo, 33, of Albuquerque, New Mexico was arrested after her sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student was discovered. Police told the media that Sanchez-Trujillo made a confession to a coworker about the inappropriate relationship she was carrying on with one of her students. The coworkers then notified authorities. Sanchez-Trujillo has been fired from her job as a 7th grade social studies teacher at Jimmy Carter Middle School and has been charged with three counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor. She was arrested on Wednesday and released today.

Five Arrested in Alleged Gang Rape, Friend of Victim Speaks Out

Police investigating the gang rape of a 15-year-old student outside of a school dance on Oct. 23 have arrested five people, CNN reports. Three juveniles and two adults—Salvador Rodriguez, 21, and Manuel Ortega, 19— were taken into custody. Richmond, CA police spokesman, Lt. Mark Gagan, says the arrested teens will be charged as adults.
